Would it be possible in the next version to have a section in the Bowling Techniques for Swing bowling?
This should be both new ball swing (given the right conditions) and if at all possible, reverse swing too.
It seems to me that this would be a welcome addition, as certain bowlers (mentioning no names) are close to ineffectual if the ball is not swinging in the real world so as well as having the option for short/length/full deliveries from over & around the wicket, there should be the potential for swinging the ball away from or into the batters as well.
Thoughts, anyone?

I said similar last year, the graphics doesn't show swing bowling that well so maybe their should be some sort of commentary speculating on how much it's swinging/reversing.
It's a problem with regens aswell though as if you watch enough cricket you'll know some players swing the ball well while others reverse it but with regens you can't really tell what they're good at.
Coaching mechanics would be interesting. Maybe preferences aswell; Flintoff, short of a good length, Mahmood, slower balls, Anderson, swing-specialist.
More batting preferences would be nice aswell like scoring areas/favourite shots; Pietersen, clip through midwicket, Morgan, reverse-sweeps.
EDIT: And Anderson is pretty good when on form even when the ball isn't swinging.

Yeah, just a favoured delivery for all bowlers would be good. After that, all bowlers could have differing amounts of specialism for that particular ball, say that James Kirtley's yorker preference would be high (hidden) and someone else's swing preference (Sidebottom?) could be lower.

Interesting, I've added it to our document which we'll discuss for development next year.

I'd like there to be a strengths section for bowlers (much like there is for Preferences for batting)
Where some body may allready be an "aggressive bowler" so you wouldnt have to tech there aggressive bowling.
you may notice some one is not listed as an "accurate" bowler, so you would give him accuracy tech.

Its brilliant idea that have come, which will make it even for both batsman and bowler.

A strengths section for bowlers is a pretty good idea IMNSHO.

Excellent.
Whilst we are talking about this maybe it would be a good idea to put a complete bowling list together.
1 - Swing - both in/out as well as normal/reverse.
2 - each bowlers propensity to bang it in short or go for the full-length ball when the main setting is in the "good length" area.
3 - Off-cutters and seam-up options - this is getting more & more common these days, especially in T20 but also starting to happen in FC games too.
I really like the idea of a strengths section for bowlers too - currently, the "general/aggressive/defensive/accuracy" option in coaching gives nothing much in the way of detailed options. We should have in & out swingers, yorkers, reverse swing etc as well.

I'd like to see a variation meter for bowling.

A variation meter? What is that?

As in you have an option in-match to tell the bowler how much he should be varying his delivery types?

Not sure about swing, i mean is this not in the game now anyway?
When I look at hawkeye the swing is quite clear (isn't it? am I going mad?)
In ICC 2009 Simon Jones definitely got reverse swing at about the 40 over mark.

I like the preference idea. Lot's of bowlers seem to have a "go to" delivery Slower ball bouncer, yorker, inswinger, cutter etc etc.
If you were bowling a rookie with limited "stuff" you would just go to the old maxim "top of off" or maybe stretch to "yorker"
If the bowler had a number of deliveries in his arsenal tell him to mix it, or to prefer a particular varient against a certain batsman
Great idea :)

Yes. So in a CC game you'll bowl good length top of off stump, little variation and most of the balls would attempt to hit top of off stump.
But then in a one day game you may want to use the same tactic but with more variation with the bowler bowling more slower balls/yorkers/bouncers.
EDIT: I'd also love to see a similar thing for batsmen, people often complain how when they tell they're batsmen to be very defensive they get caught out at long on. Maybe having a the option to suggest to the batsman how innovative he should be with his shot selection.

I'm pretty sure there is both swing and reverse swing, you are not going mad. But at the moment with the graphics engine and the way the game works it's difficult to tell when the ball is swinging and what type of swing it is.

I use hawkeye to tell. It shows quite clearly (i think). During the "live" game it's hard to tell.
