6th May 2009
There has been some confusion lately over what is going on with the game.
Childish Things can confirm that Empire Interactive has gone into administration. As for how this will affect the game, we are not certain yet. Obviously decisions still need to be made about the release format, publishers and there are obviously legal matters to settle.
As far as development goes, the game is in the latter stages, so rest assured Childish Things are working hard to find a way to release the game as quickly as possible.
We understand that this is frustrating because certain game websites were talking about the game being released in early May, possibly even this Friday. Let us clarify that this was never the case. Childish Things have at no stage given any official or unofficial release date to the public or to retailers. All information you have heard has been false for whatever reason.
When there is news regarding the format and/or release dates, we will inform you of what is going on. We thank you for your patience during this time, this is the place to keep up to date with all news and information.
In addition, we'd like to thank you for all the messages of support received through emails and this forum. It's great to hear that so many people are as passionate about the game as we are.
Update: 27th May 2009
Childish Things are excited to announce that they have obtained full rights to International Cricket Captain 2009. More news to follow...

:)Yeeeeeeesss!!!, great news, as a ICC player since the original back in the 90s, this is a massive relief as i was seriously beginning to think we had seen the last of our beloved game......cheers Aus for keeping us informed throughout.

I imagine this was wrestling the publishing rights from whoever is administrating the publishers affairs.
No mean feat, as these rights could be seen as an asset.
However, to realise the asset the publisher would be required to "make good" on their part of the deal (i.e Publish the game in hard copy form, and use its distribution network for retail etc).
As they are almost definately unable to do this in their current situation, then relinquishing the rights back to the developer is the sensible thing.
Sensible thing..yes, but I've seen many instances where the obvious and sensible route is not the one initially persued by administrators (whose first obligation is to the taxman, then the preferred share holders, then any holding stock (another form of share) , then other creditors (commercial) then finally, and sometimes VERY belatedly, anyone else who may have a stake. - I've known this take years)
Well done Chris, a great step on the road to publishing.
Are you now able to publish your own "online" version through this site and softwrap prior to finalizing a retail deal ? Or are the two methods linked ? :)
Last bit of advice to everyone. If you are over 16 (yes 16) make a will. Don't let this happen to you in real life. If you depart this mortal coil without one the taxman will declare your estate subject to the rules of intestate succession, and take most of it away before your loved ones can blink (and the lawyers will take most of what is left).
Sorry to ramble. Good news :D

You would think it would be released a week or two before the 1st Test at Sophia Gardens on July 8, so I'm gunning for, based on my Marketing experience, a June 24th-ish release date.
Obviously the earlier the better.

I would say it's about 50% England/Wales, 30% India, 7.5% Pakistan, 7.5% Australian, 5% other (Sri Lanka/New Zealand/West Indies/Usa)

Lol I bet.
UK sales in particular would be boosted by a game riding on the interest of the Ashes - by no small margin I would bet.
So at least we know it's not going to be in the next day or so - it's still well over a month to the ashes.

Ok, I hate to be the one that starts all this up again ( I have waited patiently) but I cannot help but think the phrase "Hoping for a pre-ashes release" means that we are going to get yet another database update (which as the game is being released in July with a March database wil be out of date already).
it worries me that we havent got any new features confirmed and it is all just speculation.
I await being proven wrong, but i am not hopeful.

okay guys,
i know we have been through everything as to the game being released may 5 and all that jargon.
And i cant say this is 100% accurate as i am not sure myself, but while searching EB Games Australia i came across a funky thing that said Internation Cricket Captain 2009 $50.00 being released on...........
wait for it.............
Wait for it.................
25 June!!
Could Aus or someone please confirm if this is anywhere near correct?

I’ve read through most of the forums, and here and there picked up points of interest. However I am a huge sports manager fan, but so many of them lack one or two things to make them into GREAT games.
Where can we log some ideas to REALLY improve the game?
HI I'm sh3z from pakistan I'm great fan of ICC atleast I.C.C they reality rather than other cricketing game. can't anyone tell exact releasing date of ICC 09????

I dont know about anywhere else in the world, but in the UK, games are usually released on fridays.
I'm thinking that ICC 09 will be released on either 26/06/09 or following week on 03/07/09.

Hi Administrators
Have you seen my thread in ICC 2009 forum with the titile of CHANGES I RECOMMEND IN ICC ?
If you have read that which suggestions are possible for designers and which are not?Which one you appreciate the most? And which one are going to be the part of ICC 2009?

I doubt if this has any relevance to the actual release date. As the admins here have said many times, you will see it here - officially posted - first.
Of course 25th could be a lucky guess (Devs has said they hope for a pre ashes release - but most releases are Fridays, so 26th might have been a better guess).
I'll wait for official release.
I've got 4 cricket games to buy now (This BLC, CC and EA's - possibly on Wii :D )
I mean if you are going to play a cricket arcade game - it'd be nice if you actually played

I found that 25 June date on EB Games as well, but that's no guarantee it will actually be released on that day. It likely just to be a provisional date until actual release details can be finalised.
