Can someone please tell me if left arm bowlers are more effective when bowling from the left side?? or are they better off on the original right hand side they are originally set to ball from(as in the game)?? I've noticed that left arm bowlers(usually good ones) pick up as much wickets when bowling from the right as right arm bowlers do! and even the computer has his lefties bowling from from the right!! If I make left armers bowl from the left do you suppose it will affect their wicket taking ability?? and how do you use your left handed bowlers? (the right or left)
Thank you!

What I've notices is that it doesn't seem to make a great deal of difference.
More important is where you ask them to pitch the ball. Offiside for batters that favour LH shots and vide verse. Maybe around the wicket you have the option of bowling straighter to batsmen who like the ball on their legs as the angle will take it away from them. Not sure.
In real life, the LH batter is been prolific for the past 15 years. 1 in 7 people are born LH, but in the top cricket teams in 2008, there were more LH then RH in the top six (WI at one point had 6 out of 6 LH batters)
This seems to be because there were few LH bowlers, and those that are tend to be LH orthodox spin.
However, we are seeing sides now atart to pick LH bowlers simply to counter LH batters (exactly the opposite of what is the received wisdom in baseball I might add).
It seems clear that there are some major differences between LH and RH bowlers, and some general rules seem to apply.
I say "seem to apply" because I'm not sure anyone knows exactly what they are - even in the real world.
I think following a ball that spends much of it's time nicely inside your natural line of sight may have something to do with it, also the predominance of away swing bowlers (to right handers) also might play a part.
But i'm just guessing.
Modelling this in a game (at the moment) may be very difficult, as I'm not sure even the top coaches understand why or how it happens.
Great question, let's hope it gets unravelled and simulated at some point soon ! :)

i disagree, on my game only left handed spinners get wickets (eg. M.Clarke, A.Sunny, M.Panesar). an example of how poor left handed pace bowlers are is M.Johnson who took 9 wickets at 60 in 6 matches with a best of 3-97 for me. they are especially poor over the wicket to right handers.

Hmmm....I've played 1000's of years with Australia, and Mitch always averages low 30's for me. I tend to bowl over the wicket 85% of the time, and around to the tailenders, nice and full. I do get quite a few bags with Mitch, he is very endurable, which is good.
Not to mention the 100's he's made, I actually had him at No. 4 in the ODI's for a few years.

i dont have a lot of LH quicks but have a couple of decent spinners and i always tend to bowl them over the wicket for a start and they do pretty well... but not sure how big a difference the side makes... im sure it does otherwise there was no real point in having it in place :P

Left hand bowlers are more effective when they bowl into the batsman.

They concede more runs if you bowl them the way they would in real life.

In ICC09 I find this to be relatively true, they do take wickets, but when theyre off, theyre completely off. I use Bracken a little bit, and he in real life is a very economical bowler, I've had him take 3-25 in ODI and then 0-80 in 7 in the next. Johnson is the same, although he takes wickets, which means I keep bowling him and he keeps leaking runs......
