The ECB have announced the Test Match provisional squad for the home matches against the West Indies.


Squad :

Strauss*
Anderson
Bopara
Broad
Collingwood
Cook
Denly
Flintoff
Onions
Patel
Pietersen
Rashid
Read (wk)
Sidebottom
Swann

Patel's great domestic form earns him a place in the provisional squad although he is unlikely to feature in the two tests. Denly will play if either one of the openers is injured. And Sidebottom, Onions and Rashid will battle it out for the final bowlers place. :)

Sidebottom was chosen over Rashid and Onions. Bopara, Pietersen and Collingwood, played 3,4 and 5 respectivley. Read was at six and then Flintoff Broad ,Swann, Sidebottom and Anderson.

West Indies won the toss and elected to bat, their innings started promisingly, Sarwan (89), Richards (46), until Swann came on and took three quick wickets, Broad then skittled the tail out , the final score was 286 all out.
After reducing the West Indies to a low score, England started slowly, and no one got going apart from Bopara (97). Broad(29) and Swann (29) both hit late runs to give England a below par score. 269 all out.
Swann then stole the show getting five wickets to reduce the West Indies to 175 all out. Chanderpaul (53) the only player to offer any resistance.

Needing 193 to win England raced to 70 without loss. They eventually got to the score with the loss of three wickets. Bopara (49) and Strauss (72) top scorers in the second Innings. :)
